Sometimes "because you can" isn't even applicable. I am still creeped out from whatever the guy is doing with his hands in the video, the whole thing kind of give me the heebie-jeebies.

I thought it was pretty cool to design something like that. But on the other hand, you would spend a lot of time programming it or synchronizing it.

I probably wouldn't play one, but I think it's cool to experiment with new things. As some people have pointed out, this is a little bit like a hurdy-gurdy, except that it plucks instead of bowing.

Well, Les was an avid tinkerer so, maybe not?
He should have written down his vision of the guitar of the future.
The LP we know is a pale copy of the first step.

I don't get it... At first I thought this was like a mechanical sequencer, like a music box or a player piano, but that thing spins too fast to be hitting individual strings, and you've still got to fret the notes... Is this for people who are too lazy to strum? I don't get it.

Maybe, like with Les Paul and Gibson, things got switched around from initial design. And the spinney buffy thing was supposed to be on the back side.

A very salient point. As much as we all idolize Les Paul, most of us are not playing his later designs...

Ol Les would have loved this. Or at least the idea of experimenting with it. I'm a little surprised he never invented it.
Personally I think I need something to help speed up my left hand.
I did notice how the guy was working that G spot on it. Kinda sexy lewd

I think it would look better with brass saddles and a Jazzmaster trem, automatically activated of course

If you want a vision of the future... everyone will be socially isolated in a bubble (with internet access), with an auto-guitar playing mindless supersonic shred sequences through the circle of 5ths - every quarantined subject will be both band and audience. They won't have to purchase the "guitar", the monthly subscription will be charged to their Amazon prime account, along with the bubble rental and mandatory internet access (which will be directly to the underskin chip and "always on")
Personally I've been expecting these developments since the "robot guitar" or whatever that was called. I'm sure that greater minds knew about it since the advent of sliced bread.

I think this just caused me to reach a whole new level of dislike
I see no merit, unless they market/redesign it as an accessibility option for people with limited functionality of their hand(s).
