This was my faithful workhorse from 1992 to around 2006. It sounds fantastic and is more of an extension of a Strat than a Les Paul style guitar. A pre-factory alder body, nice flame maple top, maple bolt-on quarter-sewn 'wide-thin' neck, with a beautiful Brazilian rosewood finger board. The original bat wing tuners and floating PRS trem. One of those guitars that is worn in in all the best ways and pretty much plays itself.

The stock 5-way rotary style pickup selector switch unfortunately takes some getting used to and really stymies 'on-the-fly' changes I went to start using it at jam nights and could no longer maneuver the rotary the way I used to. I still wanted all the stock selections (bridge humbucker, inside parallel split coils, inside series coils, outside parallel split coils and neck humbucker)

So I bought and installed a Free Way 3x3 Ultimate Toggle switch. I now get a bonus setting, which is the two humbuckers in parallel (typical Gibson middle selection). It is a marvelous switch!

It takes some heavy thought, planning and a lot of wiring. But the results are worth it. I can get to any setting in a millisecond. Looks like it belongs to boot!

Note that my wiring is a lot neater than the old pre-factory wiring.

Something tells me I'd get that switch wrong 5 times before I got it right (if at all).

I had a reissue Danelectro Mod 6 that had a rotary, similar to that on the ES 345 models. Loved all the flexibility but after about 2 years it started to fritz out and I had no skills to replace it.

That is why I really took my time. Including reviewing all the diagrams on their website and choosing the one I could tweak to get the settings I wanted, validating that diagram and actually wiring, I expect I spent 10 hours on it. And I still had made one easily correctable mistake!

But I am very happy with the results, as was @golem who was over this morning givnig it a whirl, as I tried his little Vox amp, his 1997 PRS Custom 22 and his 2021 Gibson LP Supreme (all very nice).
