Thailand Fishing Boat Lights

Walking along the beach last weekend I noticed that all the fishing boats were outfitted with large greenish lights. A little research shows that apparently they use the lights to attract squid. First my pic and then reference article:

I've seen this in Japan/Korea/China as well but from the plane. It's surreal when there's so many lights but it doesn't quite look like a city or road.

I usually try to avoid squid when I'm in the water...should I wear a red light instead?

You might attract sexpats..

In that case i'll just go stealth mode then.

Speaking of strange lights and fishing, I grew up on the Mississippi river and you used to see people in big flat-bottom boats out in the middle of the night with really bright lights. Most of them were either Clamming or Carp fishing.
