I have been thinking about a floor type mini amp for a back up. There is a used Traynor Quarter Horse on CL about 10 minutes from me. I think it would do the trick but I will need to switch from a combo to a head and cab rig. Or I could rig up an input in the speaker in my current combo. My Gibson combo has a metal grill plate covering the entire back. I would need to mount a 1/4" speaker jack to the grill. It would be easy enough.

I like those mini amps especially for folks that play out like you do. They are very popular and certainly portable and sound pretty good.
I love my amp but it is a tube amp and ever now and again something happens. I used to have a Vox Night Train ii a nice carry case that was my backup. My Delta Blues amp was open in the back so all I needed was a speaker cable with the little slide connectors and I could set the NT on top and plug into the speaker in the DB. On one occasion that is what I had to do. The transformer blew on the DB. The Night Train was really easy to take along on any gig. Currently I load up my Fender SCXD. It is smallish and certainly will do the trick but I have seen these small pedal size amps that could also work in a pinch. I would hate for anyone to see me gigging with a solid state amp, but at my age the convenience is a motivator. LOL I say that jokingly, when I gig with the acoustic there is tubes in sight. I have a tube preamp I could run through but it is just something else to carry.
