Saw that this morning. He was so, so important to the Vader character, because much of the menace came from movement: how he handled his cape, how he moved with the l8ghtsaber, what he did with his hands. Picture the big swerve in Empire without the way he used his hands to create emotion...it just doesn't work.
And this is proven in how the other actors who put on the suit moved incorrectly for the character.
And let's not forget he is the guy who trained Christooher Reeve, putting 30 pounds on him before he donned the tights and became Superman.
