Thai Baht to USD exchange rates have been between 36 to just under 30 for my 9 years here, with the longest stretches happening in the 32 to 33.5 average range. So when rates hit above 36 today I decided to lock in a roughly $1200 difference over the exchange rate average. Bully for me !
Later in the same day, I go to my dental appointment thinking I have a small cavity. Because of it's location and the decayed tooth and adjacent molar both having big old amalgam fillings from the mid 80s, turns out the only way to get at the cavity is to essentially destroy both old fillings, necessitating 2 crowns required to save it all. Yup you guessed it a $1200 bill.
