Custom Build: how much ?

So here's a guy in Bangkok who essentially built a Fender Player jazzmaster / parts master. Quality parts as seen in the listing, custom pickups, Gotoh hardware, etc.
Originally asking $500 just dropped price to $425. I'm thinking if he drops price to $350 it might be worth a grab. Looks to be higher quality than the MIM series but if course no brand label limits it's market severely.
He states it cost him about $700 put together which I don't doubt if many parts are imported. It's always the deal with partscasters or any mods really..you better be prepared to keep it forever or sell it vastly below your cost

I think the price is reasonable, but I'm not sure about the sound quality.

I don't care about resale but I'm also planning to get a J Mascis Jazzmaster at the end of the year so not sure I want 2 offset styles hanging on the wall..if it gets cheap enough I'd do it.

Sounds sane to me. If it goes low enough, it'd just be a great deal (assuming it plays and sounds as good as it looks). Being a partscaster, it will never have a blue book value, just the sum of its parts. And color-wise, offset-wise, it might be redundant with the J Mascis, or already thinking about the Mascis might have made this one grab your attention. If you can go play it, I think the answer lies in that experience.

I think I'm attracted more by the respect for the builder, clearly someone who cares about what he was putting together, considering all the crap one sees on FB/CL it's refreshing. I see so many great guitars that have just been abused, not reliced naturally from playing, just filthy, grimy, banged up and not taken care of, this is nice to see

That is a good price. I still have a jazzmaster body build that I did back in the day that is a HH configuration. I do not remember exactly what it cost me but I am sure I have at least $600 in parts and paint in it. Untold hours of labor too. Mine is top notch quality, I suppose you would need to see and play to determine the quality on that one. It looks nice.

Having grabbed partscasters, some need work. @andrewsrea recently sorted me out with a Thinline tele's frets for example, recently.
