New Band...Again

Drummer in my most recent band parted ways with us last week. He's unhappy at work and starting a prep course for a project management certification, which is going to eat up his free time. Nice guy, great drummer, but a hard personality to read. Never could tell if he was really into what we were doing or not.
Our guitar player has recently been getting back into drums (he's played in the past) and bought a new kit. So he's moved to drums, and I'm back on guitar. I welcome the change. Bass is a lot of fun, and I am happy I had the chance to play it in a band scenario - but guitar is my true love, and i've missed it.
Fortunately we found a bass player right away. Young guy, 22 years old. Nice kid with some good chops. He picked up on what we were doing right away.
We had a nice little session jamming on two ideas I scraped together last week. Got a decent recording of the first one, but a neighboring metal band (a few storage units over from us) started up and made recording the second one impossible.

I'm enjoying bass duties more and more these days. I hope that you guys can form a fun dynamic.

LOVE that tune, especially the lead stuff around 2:40 and the little breakdown right after. So atmospheric and moody. What pedals are you using on the guitar?
How did you record that? I thought it was a great live capture, especially the drum sound.

Thank you very much! I should have taken some pictures of my rig last night (warmoth strat w/sd jb/jazz humbuckers > hilbish beta 200 amplifier > carvin 4x12 w/vintage 30s)
I do have one of the pedalboard at least

For that song I have a maxon fireblade chorus and an ibanez es-2 echo shifter on the whole time. distortion is from the amp. the wah in the solo is the amt japanese girl, and the phaser in the bridge is a mxr phase 90.
i want to replace the maxon chorus with the boss waza ce-2w since it has the ce-1 mode

i also have my eye on the jhs muffaletta fuzz...
our bass player was using a jhs pollinator v2 for drive. sounded killer on bass!
we use a Tascam DR-07X Linear PCM Recorder mounted to a mic stand positioned more or less in the middle of the room. Very handy

That's really good sound for one device in the middle of a room! But then, those little Tascams are pretty good units, and sometimes you just get lucky with the way the room sounds.
