Lmao! Triple ply, triple ply!! Although a thriller ply pick guard sounds entirely intriguing.

Keep in mind that it's unlikely to be a reissue of anything. It's a 60s in it's cosmetics and general features, but doesn't really adhere to '62 specs. Most are excellent(!) players. My ST-62-EX is.
The 85 is definitely one of their “62 RI’s”. The 91 is a little different animal. The seller contacted fender to ascertain what it was. They said it was a 62 but couldn’t specify further. It is alder body. The guy swapped out with a DaveStarr vintage harness and has 60’s grey backs in it. All original gear comes with. He said the grey backs he put in sounded better than factory. I’ve read some mixed emotions on the grey backs. Long and short, this isn’t my untouchable instrument. I’m buying this one specifically if I wanted to make non-permanent mods, read, pup’s.

Cool. Sounds like you've got a nice one. I'd definitely pull off the neck and lift the guard to see the markings.

Grey bottoms vary, a lot. IMO the 60s gray bottoms are midrange-forward. Often, 70s gray bottoms lack midrange and all bass and treble forward. My 76s had a big hole where the upper midrange should be.
Fender: James Burton Standard Tele, Baja 50s Tele, Classic Player 50s Strat, MIJ ST-62DEX2 Strat
Squier: Classic Vibe 50s Tele, Bullet Strat, Affinity Strat
Gibson: ES-335 TDC, Les Paul 50s Tribute goldtop

The seller had sent me pics of all cavities and scribbles. No hand writing but there are some brandings on it stating 92 and not a whole lot else. It did mention 62 but not an exact model number as many have on them.

These particular pups were wound by Fat Pups per the old owners specs. They definitely have hair. That middle pick up is hot hot! Plenty of mid punch which is my cup of tea!!
