I've been busy in the workshop,

I proposed to my wife at a special place that we love, called Westonbirt Arboretum, in Gloucestershire, and we were married at Westonbirt House, the home of the creator of the arboretum,

I have been talking to them for quite some time around having some wood from them to build a guitar, and also some to build a proper version of my MDF prototype, It will be special with wood from this very dear place.
(viewtopic.php?f=27&t=102) for plans!

Now I've been a fool, and not taken pictures of the build - sorry!

I picked up some cherry and maple, and got to work, I've re-worked the feet and the tops to make them a little more interesting, and instead of the black and silver paint (sacrilege on beautiful wood) I've used Danish oil to finish it.

The build is done, I now need to fit the feet, buffers, and hooks, and then we are there.

just saw this on instagram... came here to see more pics! nice work. I was going to comment on Instagram that I am glad they tore that old bordello down finally, but that would have been uncouth, especially in response to such a cool and romantic story.

So I saved it for AGF instead LOL! Just kidding my friend. I admire your craftsmanship and dedication to safe storage of your guitars, and honouring your dear and lovely wife, not necessarily in that order

I figured out something the other day in regards to guitar storage myself... you know those ubiquitous tool hooks you see at the dollar store for a buck?
I was always afraid to use one due to the plastic junk on them, known to destroy finishes...

Anyway, I took some thinner garment leather and wrapped it around a suitable sized dowel, and proceeded to sew about 15 inches of leather in a tube along the dowel. Then I simply cut it into shorter tubes that I could slip onto each arm of the hook and trim to fit. Works great - ended up getting another four guitars off the floor.

you see I am always worried about the foam. Sometimes over time, unpredicted by the manus, things happen
If you end up ordering something from me in the future lets talk about Well-Hung guitar condoms along with.

So on the big reveal last night Mrs G said "Where's the old stand then?" "You'll be needing that for the next 3 guitars"

She's a keeper!
