Really tried to nail his big echo-ish tone. I'm really not sure what to make of it but hopefully it sounds good and my tribute did Devin some justice.
Let me know what you guys think.

That was cool, I like that a lot! I honestly don't know anything about Devin Townsend's music...I mean I've heard of him, and I know who he is, but never ran across his stuff for whatever reason, but if his music is like what you played here, I'll definitely need to check it out...

You have to check him out! I don’t think I got close enough though. Devin has a more reverb and delay heavy sound.
This is a perfect example of what I was going for...

Nice one, Narsh. Definitely in the same vein.
I had the chance to meet Heavy Devy a few times back in the Strapping Young Lad days in Vancouver. He was a little odd, for sure, but you'll never meet a guy who loves music more.
Oh, and he did a KILLER cover of Judas Priest's Sinner:

Not quite DT, but I don't think that matters much - I like what you got!
Did you change some aspect of your mastering? This one sounds bigger than normal. More huge, extra punch, whatever you want to call it. I like it.

Dude its so weird, all I did was add a crap ton of reverb to each rhythm guitar track and lower the gain a tad. It sounds MASSIVE!!! I like it to.
And I totally agree, so not DT. Ever since I heard him on Sex & Religion I knew the guy had something different.
New tune forthcoming....

I threw my monitor headphones on and A/B'ed with previous tracks. It sounded like you bumped compression - but then again it didn't. Was driving me nuts. Fucking sounds HUGE!Narsh wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:22 pmDude its so weird, all I did was add a crap ton of reverb to each rhythm guitar track and lower the gain a tad. It sounds MASSIVE!!!
