Well, almost 3 months after the fact, my hand was mobile enough that I finally could try out my birthday present : a Bogner mini head!

I didn't have a banana for scale, so my 6505MH will have to do. :D

This is a cool little amp. I barely turned it up and had pretty decent volume though my Recto 2x12. I suspect it would keep up with a drummer.

This is essentiall the Bogner Red pedal with a class D power amp, and it delivers what you'd expect. Tones are pretty darned good, especially with the Variac switch activated. Plexi-style sounds, along with much higher gain if wanted. It is very clearly a solid state amp though, so there is a titch of harshness. It has an effects loop, so perhaps one could run it like a pedal into a tube power amp.

The downsides are those switches are really, really small, and the text is hard to read. On the upside, it is easy to pick up and look at closely.

Overall, quite happy with my new toy. It kinda makes me want the Soldano mini.

Happy new amp day.

I've spoken much about my great love for my Bogner Ecstasy Blue pedal on this forum and wondered if these mini heads are that pedal in a powered format. That pedal is the most amp-like I've ever heard.

Does this mini head give you the option to run line out into the front of an actual tube amp?

It has an effects loop, so should work.

+1 on the Soldano mini, but a tweaked Soldano style AIB pedal gets me close enough.

Congrats on the amp! They had one of those amps at the GC the other day and I gave it a good look over thinking it could be a good back up to take to gigs. I installed a jack on the back of the combo I use that would allow me to use the speaker with a head if a blow a tube or the amp otherwise becomes inoperable during a gig.

They also do minis of the Diezel VH4 and the Friedman BE100.

Tempted to try one of the offshore "Freedman" amp pedals now.

If you are speaking about the preamp pedal with the vacuum tubes, @golem had one for a bit. If you are talking the transistor based pedals, I've had a few and have made clones. One I still have and use often is called 'Dirty Harry' and is a cross between the Dirty Shirley and the BEOD.
