physio afterwards to regain strength and function.
Put 100% into this everyday, not just therapy days. My 16 year old son lost a lot of function on the left side of his body 1 year ago. Therapy(phsyical/occupational) 2 times a week 45 minutes each, plus an equal amount of home therapy for 9 months. It was a grind, but the extra we did at home really paid off and the docs were amazed at his recovery. He can walk and probably has about 80% use of his left hand coordination. Still not 100% but I can't imagine where we would have been if we hadn't pushed the therapy as hard as we did.
It sucks and its hard to see the end result in process, but it really makes a difference.
Glad your son's doing better!
I already do physio for IT band issues, so this is going to be adding to the pile.
And once this is far enough along, I am going to the gym. I hate feeling weak.
Not much of an update: Still no word from the surgeon. That said, the hand is getting better. You might have noticed my NAD for my itty bitty Bogner, and I can play again a bit. I was off sick earlier this week, and spent some time with a guitar or two. That was pleasant, though it made me realise how much I miss it. Bends are still difficult as is really digging in to a note, but bit by bit, I am getting there.
My worry is that I'll be close to OK, and then will have to get the surgery. I would have to say Boo-urns to that.
The backup plan can be watching old clips of Django Reinhardt, that's what I'm doing...

In the mean time consider cbd topical. I got interested after a cancer patient was sent home to die husband maxed out cbd pills and gave her 6 more healthy years. I used topical on knees that have been getting worse for 30 years. Topical daily for a month rubbing in and my knees have been better the last few years than in my 20s. Just recently the left has sprung something and it's not going away so far so I'm going to start cbd again.
At the least 10 min massage 2x a day certainly can't hurt.
Good luck
